Hi there! I try to tag all of my artwork on my blog if I can, so you can easily browse my Pokemon or MLP tags with these links!
I have lots more tags HERE for those wanting to browse art I’ve drawn for specific tags or fandoms, too! If you’re on my blog, you can find more links underneath my icon on the top bar by clicking or hovering over the different colored boxes. Hope that helps!
Hi everyone! I apologize for how long it’s taken me, but CrayonChewer Shop is officially opening back up on Wednesday (October 15th) at 9AM PST! There’s now over 120 products to pick from, (waaaay up from the original 5), so I hope you’re all as excited as I am!
Everything is back in stock, including brand-new high-quality art prints, which will have free shipping in the USA and discounted shipping for international orders!
Also I’ll be at the Artist Market in PMX, Nov 7-9th! So if you plan on going and order online ahead of time, I’m offering free product pick-up @ PMX if you’ll be there too! I’ll share more details as I find out more, so get ready for more updates and thanks for all your support!
Wanted to let you know your art made it to the front page of Imgur!
I’m glad that people enjoy my artwork and I would be really, REALLY happy about this except that I get absolutely zero credit for it. :c
Edit: Now there are cropped versions of my artwork floating around that have taken out my signature. This is really rather upsetting. I don’t mind people using my artwork, but please, PLEASE, ask me beforehand before editing it, especially if you’re going to publicly post it elsewhere. Removing the artists’ signature is extremely disrespectful and very disheartening to the creator. I don’t mind if you want to use my artwork as icons or phone wallpapers, in fact, I encourage it! That’s why I post it! But please, out of respect to me and the time I put into creating my artwork, don’t post edited or cropped versions of it, especially if the only reason for editing it is to remove my signature.
Ahh I’m sorry for not thanking you any sooner for making me such a GOOD AND GREAT ICON. But that’s because I was so inspired by it that I wanted to completely redo my entire blog theme around it! And now it’s finally done SO I FINALLY GET TO SHOW BOTH OF THEM OFF. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SUCH A WONDERFUL GIFT!!!
Is there anyway you could try make a tutorial to show how to achieve blended lines like in your megaman picture? It's a style I want to practice, but don't know where to start! :(
Sure thing! But to tell the truth, I didn’t blend any lines or colors in my Mega Man pic… it was all flat colors! But I’ll try to explain my process as best as I can with a little diagram! :>
Step 1: Since I only had 1 hour to draw my pic, I knew I wouldn’t be able to go about doing my usual method of making a sketch and making nice, clean lineart AND still manage to finish the pic in time. Art challenges with deadlines are good practice because they force you to make split-second decisions, and sometimes you have to sacrifice something in favor for something else to insure you’ll be able to finish the pic in time! And I’m really, really slow! So I blobbed out basic shapes instead.
Step 2: I erase or add onto the blob to make the character’s silhouette shapes.
Step 3: With the silhouette layer locked, I start coloring in some of the details the character has. Since it’s opacity locked, that means I don’t have to be perfect and can freely scribble outside of the lines. AND YOU’D NEVER EVEN KNOW, HEH. Then on a new layer, I draw out the important details, like the face and eyes.
Step 4: Keep going! The face is actually on an entirely new layer, but the colors for the eyes, mouth, and eyebrows are on a layer underneath.
Step 5: Sweet, we’re nearly done! I make sure to opacity lock ALL of my layers, because here’s where I add those cool effects. On the different layers, I lightly skim over the edges with a different color. This is to give it either a glowy kinda effect or helps give it the appearance of lineart in certain places without actually giving it REAL lineart, which is super handy if you have something of one color overlapping another area of the same color. Without those added extra lines, the detail of what’s going on would be lost! Now just keep going until you’re done, yay!
There’s actually a lot of different methods to get this same effect, but this was just how I did mine since I was on a time crunch to get it done and my brain was slightly freaking out, haha. But it was thanks to that pressure that I figured this method out, so I can’t complain! Hope it helps you too! ‘w’
… It also doubles as a “how to draw Trigger” tutorial. ENJOY. xD
I love your art so much it's so precious gosh <3, I wanted to ask if its ok if I use one of your drawings and use it as a forum/steam avatar? credit will be given to you if I get asked ofc or I could put the source in the signature, if its not ok then thanks anyway ^^!
Aaaahhhh yes of COURSE! Feel more than free to use any of my art for avatars/icons/backgrounds/banners, WHATEVER!!!
I am more than happy to let others use my art for those types of things, and it makes me even MORE happy if I get credit for it in a signature or profile or something somewhere, somehow! Thank you so much for asking and I’m so glad you enjoy what I draw! Take care! <3
hey im sorry if this is in your faq already but im trying to put your chalk brush in my paint tool sai folder and i dont see the brush when i open it up. i put both the noise 2 and pencil 2 pics in the blotmap file. did i do anything wrong?
Hi there! SAI can get a little tricky since there’s a lot of folders for different textures, and there’s a lot of steps involved to install them, and if it’s not done just right, it won’t work!
But to replicate my chalk brush, you’ll need to put the Noise2 texture file into “blotmap” and Pencil2 texture into the “brushtex” file. Also make sure that they’re both correctly saved as grayscaled “.bmp” files, as any other type of file will not work!
From there, be sure to open the respective “.conf” file, (( ex: “brushform.conf” for the blotmap folder, and “brushtex.conf” for the brushtex folder )) and type in the new brush name EXACTLY, or else it won’t recognize it as a texture when you go to use SAI!
I have way more explanations about how to install custom textures and brushes into SAI here, so give it a quick browse! I know just how confusing and frustrating it can be to figure out how to install custom textures and brushes into SAI, so I’d definitely recommend looking up some videos on how to do it too. It sure helped me figure it out! Good luck, and I hope this helped at least a little!
Ahhhh I still can’t get over that my character Clover was picked for charathon, thank you so much to everyone that took the time to draw her! I’m pooped for now so I’m gonna rebloob the rest of the wonderful drawings that were made later, so if you don’t see yours yet, don’t worry! I want to personally write a little comment for each and every entry, it’s the least I can do for all the time each artist spent drawing me a picture!
And if you don’t want to see so many posts at once, feel free to block the tags “by others" or "Charathon”! But you’ll really be missing out on some cute quality art by other artists! *^*
